APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN
Position Information:
Must have knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance. Candidate should be currently enrolled in apprenticeship program. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. Skills include manual dexterity and good judgment.

AUTOMOBILE PORTER
Various duties and responsibilities typically include:

  • Assist with service write-ups and tagging customer cars and trucks.
  • Provide ride for customers to their home and/or employer.
  • Clean area around service department and showroom.
  • Pick up mail and perform other pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Go on dealer trades. Must be able to do all paperwork involved. Responsible for inspecting both our vehicle and the unit we are receiving for perfect condition and missing equipment.
  • BODY SHOP MANAGER
    The body shop manager is responsible for developing new business opportunities through insurance adjusters, customers and other sources to ensure an adequate sales volume, provide a reasonable department operating profit and maintain customer satisfaction, while controlling expenses. The body shop manager directs the activities of body shop employees as they perform vehicle body repairs and manages meeting schedules, productivity levels and quality standards.

    CAR/VEHICLE POLISHER
    The car/vehicle polisher (also known as the "wax and detail" person) is responsible for the beautification of new and used vehicles through hand waxing, buffing and complete interior and exterior detailing.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Effectively wax and detail new and used vehicles. Ensure that every complete job, either pre-delivery or customer paid, meets dealership standards 100 percent of the time.
  • Demonstrate professional personal behavior, conduct oneself in a manner that brings credit to the dealership and dress in a manner that is in accord with dealership policy.
  • CAR/VEHICLE WASH TECHNICIAN
    The car wash technician's responsibility is to maximize the dealership's service satisfaction score by ensuring that each customer's car is delivered/returned thoroughly clean.

    DETAILER
    The detailer cosmetically reconditions all used vehicles, preps and cleans vehicles for delivery and inventory and performs other duties as directed by the department manager.

    LUBRICATION PERSON
    The lubrication person is responsible for lubricating vehicles in a quick, yet thorough manner, as directed by the foreman.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Perform all lubrication services.
  • Perform thorough check of customer's vehicle (i.e., battery, lights, tires), referring all needed repairs and preventive maintenance to service advisor.
  • Operate and maintain all lubrication equipment.
  • Receive repair order from either the service salesperson or the production foreman and proceed to service lift.
  • Lubricate entire vehicle and in the process, look for other items that may need repair.
  • Ensure that the customer's vehicle is kept clean.
  • Make certain all equipment is in proper working order, especially the lifts.
  • Use adequate, but not excessive, amounts of materials and supplies.
  • SERVICE MANAGER
    The service manager is responsible for running an efficient and profitable service department. He/she will operate the department at maximum production, controlling costs, building a loyal clientele, sustaining good employee relationships, setting and obtaining sales and profit objectives and maintaining service records.

    SERVICE SALESPERSON
    The service salesperson expedites parts orders for service technicians to improve productivity for the technician and profitability for the dealership. Job skills include a good knowledge of parts and the ability to efficiently use the partsŐ catalogues.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Take parts orders at the counter or over the intercom.
  • Recommend to customers related parts that are needed (to save repeat trips).
  • Inform technicians when special parts orders are received.
  • Assist shop technicians to determine parts requirements (especially on the overhaul of major components.)
  • Determine correct parts numbers and "pick" parts for orders received.
  • Inform technicians when parts orders are ready for pickup.
  • Provide cost estimate for parts on repair orders.
  • Assist in preparation of stock orders and special orders.
  • Assist in updating parts catalogues or files.
  • Assist with receipt of parts, verifying with order before placing in stock.
  • SERVICE TECHNICIAN
    The service technician is responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of owner vehicles and dealership vehicles. The service technician role requires a high capability for performing operations "right the first time," as a means to influence customer satisfaction, owner loyalty and dealership profitability. This position requires an individual with technical skills and the capacity to learn new skills, experience proper tool use and the ability to organize work and ask questions.

    SHOP FOREMAN
    The shop foreman is responsible for quality control of service work and for ensuring that work is performed properly and on time.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Acquire and maintain thorough product and warranty knowledge for all vehicle models, body styles and years. Be familiar with warranties, policies, and service contracts
  • Provide on-the-job training to technicians as appropriate, and conduct informal evaluations with technicians..
  • Help ensure customer satisfaction by helping technicians properly diagnose technical problems and direct proper repair procedures.
  • Devise and use systems for overseeing work in progress, maintain records of comeback repairs to ensure repair and technician involved can be identified.
  • Assist in expense control efforts. Develop and control systems for appropriate use of shop supplies, protect company equipment from theft and abuse, ensure proper maintenance of all equipment and maintain inventory of essential and special tools for current and past model years.
  • Insist on shop maintenance and cleanliness. Develop and maintain awareness of OSHA and EPA requirements and conduct total follow-up in areas requiring improved housekeeping.
