Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association Pledges Financial Support for PIL Sports

The Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association has pledged up to $1000 to help save Portland Interscholastic League sports programs. The MPNCDA is working with OregonLive.com to accomplish this unique and community supported pledge drive.

The MPNCDA pledge will be generated in the online Sportlandia 2003 Sweepstakes on OregonLive.com. The sweepstakes is a promotion for the Oregon Sports Authority Foundation's Sportlandia 2003 charity auction. "We are delighted that the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association has joined the Oregon Sports Authority, the Sportlandia 2003 auction and OregonLive.com to raise much-needed funds for Portland Public Schools' athletics," says Oregon Sports Authority CEO Drew Mahalic.

The total amount donated by the MPNCDA depends upon the number of Sportlandia 2003 Sweepstakes entries made by people visiting OregonLive.com. The MPNCDA will donate $1.00 for every sweepstakes entry up to $1000. Chris Neuber, Executive Director of the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association says, "We're excited to be joining with Oregonlive.com to support Portland Public Schools' athletics. The MPNCDA has had a long history of charitable giving in this community and this is another worthwhile cause that we're involved with."

Candy Thompson, President of OregonLive.com adds, "As a major sponsor of the Oregon Sports Authority and the Sportlandia 2003 charity auction, we are proud to assist them in their efforts whenever possible. We're fortunate to have a strong relationship with the MPNCDA, which enabled us to create this opportunity to benefit schools."

The Sportlandia 2003 Sweepstakes can be entered online at http://www.oregonlive.com/info/sportlandia2003 through February 27th. Additional information about school funding issues and efforts that local citizens, communities and businesses are pursuing to help schools in Oregon are featured within the "Schools in Crisis" special section of OregonLive.com, www.oregonlive.com/special/sos.
