Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association Continues Legacy of Community Commitment
The Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association (MPNCDA) recently donated $20,006 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington, bringing their total giving to $52,510 over the past four years.

As hosts of the Portland International Auto Show — held annually at the Oregon Convention Center — MPNCDA partnered with McDonald’s in 2000 to offer coupons for discounted admissions to the event. For every coupon redeemed at the event, the Association donates $1 to the charity. This year, the donation equaled $20,006, and since 2000, the Association has bestowed the charity with proceeds totaling $52,510. Each year the donation amount dramatically increases due to the rise in attendance the Auto Show experiences each year.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington provides housing for families who must travel outside their communities to seek medical attention for their child.

“We appreciate how the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association continues to provide for those in need despite tough economic times,” said Tom Soma, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington. “Unfortunately, children get sick, no matter what the economic climate, and we are deeply grateful for organizations such as the Association for stepping forward to keep our work thriving.”

“The Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association is pleased to support such a worthwhile nonprofit organization,” said Sean Kuni, MPNCDA president and auto show chairman. “We are proud of our long history of community service and look forward to continuing that tradition.”

Founded in 1914, MPNCDA is an active force in philanthropic and educational programs throughout Oregon. To provide youth with the necessary technical education needed to embark on a career in the automotive industry, MPNCDA donates approximately $150,000 each year towards education in Oregon. In addition, it spearheads the local Automotive Technology Competition, which measures high school students’ automotive abilities, sending winners to the national contest each year.

The Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association has served the local automobile community and industry since 1914. The association now represents more than 94 new car and truck dealers in the Portland metro area and is strong supporter of automotive education programs and charitable causes throughout Oregon.
