Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association Presents Top Auto Educators With $15,000 Donation
In support of Portland area automotive technology instructors and programs, the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association presented its annual donation of $15,000 at the 2004 Technology Educators of Oregon annual conference held at Benson High School in Portland, Friday, October 8.

Of the Association's donation, $12,225 was awarded per student capita to the automotive technology programs at the following Oregon and southwest Washington high schools: Clark County Skill Center, David Douglas, Estacada, Gresham, Prairie, Reynolds, and Sandy. These schools were recognized with the Association awards for their commitment to encouraging graduating seniors to pursue careers in automotive technology by enrolling in automobile manufacturers' sponsored training programs at Mt. Hood, Portland (Sylvania campus) and Clark community colleges.

The remaining $2,775 went to underwrite the tuition of automotive technology instructors who attended the Technology Educators of Oregon annual conference.

Supporting educational programs throughout the region continues to be a top priority for the Association. "Encouraging and helping students to exceed expectations in high school and continuing that momentum through college is of utmost importance," said Greg Remensperger, Association executive vice president. "Contributing to technical education that encourages instructors and rewards students, is just one of the ways the Association shows its commitment to the community."
